ARGONAUT CUSTOM BICYCLES
PUSHING THE BOUNDARIES OF POSSIBLE
.
Ben Farver started his custom bike building career working with steel in 2007. He built bikes out of steel because that’s the material he loved to ride, and felt had the best overall ride quality. However, the quest for more performance eventually led Ben to carbon, but not the sort of carbon you find on the racks of most bike shops. Carbon piqued Ben’s interest not so much because of the ideal strength to weight ratio, but instead because of the nearly limitless potential for customization.
Nearly 10 years later, Ben and the team at Argonaut Cycles are building bikes that retain the feeling of the original steel bikes made in the early days, but lighter, stiffer where it counts, and with a ride quality that we feel is truly transcendent. Every Argonaut is unique to the individual owner. Every Argonaut rides like an Argonaut.
REDEFINING CUSTOM
Custom means far more than just unique geometry and custom paint. It means a patented moulding process, developed over years, enabling Argonaut to untether from the kinds of angle, headtube length, and chainstay restrictions other bike manufacturers have to adhere to. It means realising the true potential of carbon.
Moving beyond geometry—because, yes, geometry is just the beginning—we enter into another defining element of the Argonaut custom build process layup. Whether applied to one of their proven geometries, or a geometry built for your unique body shape, riding style, and needs, layup is how they merge art and technology to yield bicycles that redefine custom.
By shifting the layup patterns across every single frame they craft and are able to control stiffness in all directions: horizontal, vertical, and torsional. Depending on the structural end goal and rider profile associated with each build, they can add or subtract layers and/or change ply orientation to achieve that end goal. Argonaut only purchase top-of-the-line raw carbon materials directly from their suppliers—who configure them to our their exacting specifications—every inch of carbon that goes into their custom bike builds far exceeds industry standards.
It’s through their patented moulding process and meticulous layups, we both redefine and fully embrace what it truly means to be custom.
At the end of the day, you could say it's a decentralised process—to take in all your data, information, and dreams, and create a bold new universe in the form of a custom carbon bicycle. Argonaut build you a ride unparalleled and like no one.
